Ancient Dunhuang City

Ancient Dunhuang City is located about 25 kilometers southwest of Dunhuang City, covering an area of 12, 700 square meters. It was originally designed for the setting of the historical film Dunhuang in 1987. The film was made in cooperation with Japan and the set reproduced part layout and construction of the famous scroll painting Qingming Shanghe Tu (The Outing at Bian River on Qingming Festival). While entering the town, the complex gives one an impression that the clock gas turned backwards to the ancient times with the majestic ancient town in west regions appearance.  This Square town has east, south and west gates, and five main streets, Gaochang, Dunhuang, Ganzhou, Xingqing and Bianliang Street which are criss crossed with each other inside the town.
