The name Haisenchulu comes from Mongolian which means the rocks look like wok. According to scientists, the stones here are a kind of granite which spread in the floor of the sea several million years ago. They were washed by sea water into round or oval shape. Later the geological structure gradually changed and the floor of the sea rose up. These rocks were eroded by wind and take on the strange shapes we see today.
Haisenchulu Rocks City can compare to the stone forest in Yunnan and Mt.Huangshan, has huge potential for research and tourism.
