The National Conference of Directors of Cultural Relics will be held in Beijing from 21 to 22. Liu Yuzhu, director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China, said at the meeting that China will strengthen international cooperation in cultural relics in 2020 and make significant progress in the recovery and return of cultural relics. Next year, it will focus on the digital return of lost cultural relics in Dunhuang to promote the return of more cultural relics lost overseas.
In 2020, China will pragmatically carry out international exchanges and cooperation in cultural relics restoration, museum exchanges and other fields, and make significant progress. The smooth return of a series of precious cultural relics, including the horse head of the Old Summer Palace, reflects the major breakthroughs and progress China has made in the field of cultural relics recovery. Up to now, 23 countries have signed bilateral governmental agreements with China on preventing theft, excavation and illegal entry and exit of cultural property. The United States, Britain, Italy, Japan, Turkey, Egypt, etc. have returned more than 1,300 lost cultural relics to China.
Liu Yuzhu revealed that next year will continue to strengthen the international exchange and cooperation of cultural relics, promote the recovery of lost cultural relics and return innovative achievements.
