On June 6, the press conference of the 23rd Round Qinghai Lake International Road Cycling Race (hereinafter referred to as the Round Lake Race) was held. The meeting released the event route, participating teams, event highlights and event preparations. According to Liu Xinghai, deputy director of the Organizing committee office and deputy director of the Qinghai Provincial Sports Bureau, the opening ceremony will be held in Xining City on July 6, 2024, the competition will be held in the province from July 7 to 14, and the closing ceremony will be held in Menyuan Hui Autonomous County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on the evening of July 14. There are 8 stages in the race, with a total distance of 1214 kilometers, of which the race distance is 1152 kilometers, the honorary cycling distance is 12 kilometers, and the transfer distance is 50 kilometers, through Xining City, Haidong City, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The route contains rich stage types such as flat roads, mountains and hills, with an average altitude of nearly 3,000 meters, which not only highlights the characteristics of the lake race, but also strengthens the smooth connection between stages, and further enhances the professionalism.
 
22 teams from 13 countries on four continents and 154 athletes will participate in the competition. It is worth noting that the event attracted the participation of two world teams from Belgium's Oueqing de Konik Team and Kazakhstan's Astana team, making the Lake race a must for the winners of the China Road Cycling Professional League. The remaining 20 spots are five professional teams and 15 intercontinental teams. The event sets up individual total champion, mountain climbing points champion, sprint points champion, Asian Best driver, team total points, Asian team points and other awards.
 
After 22 years of unremitting efforts, the Lake Race has constructed a development pattern of "one body and two wings" with professional events as the main body, industrial development and cultural communication as the two wings, and formed a brand event activity system with competitive events, amateur events and mass riding as the framework. With its unique creativity, far-reaching influence and strong brand power, it has become the benchmark and flag of China's road cycling events. The event will continue to be broadcast live on television, simultaneously to international TV channels and online broadcast platforms, and the coverage of live signal will increase by 10% in countries. Consolidate and develop the event operation mechanism of "government-led + market operation + local participation", strengthen anti-doping and competition discipline work measures, and ensure the safe and smooth holding of the event.
