During the 2025 summer-autumn flight season, China Southern Airlines plans to operate 97 routes in Xinjiang, covering 70 destinations, with over 250 daily flights to provide travelers with richer and more convenient travel options.
The airline continues to increase flight frequency between Urumqi and major domestic cities, optimizing route networks to strengthen Xinjiang's "key air corridors." It will focus on building air express routes between Urumqi and Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, with planned operations of 8 daily flights from Urumqi to Beijing Daxing, 7 daily flights to Guangzhou, and 6 daily flights to Shanghai. Additionally, routes connecting Urumqi with Zhengzhou, Changsha, Xi'an, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Lanzhou will operate 4-6 daily flights, significantly enhancing connectivity between Urumqi and major Chinese cities.
The carrier is actively expanding direct flight services. A new direct route between Urumqi and Kunming has been launched, while existing routes to Changsha, Shenzhen, and Shanghai have been optimized to direct flights. Since 2024, the airline has optimized over 10 direct routes, saving passengers an average of 2 hours per trip and greatly improving travel efficiency.
For Xinjiang's tourism market, China Southern will operate 7-8 daily flights between Urumqi and Kashgar, and 5-6 daily flights between Urumqi and Yining. New routes include Kashgar-Zhengzhou and Yining-Chongqing, along with resumed Kashgar-Wuhan service. The frequency of Kashgar-Guangzhou and Kashgar-Shanghai Pudong routes will increase, bringing the total Kashgar routes to 12. Regional connectivity will be strengthened with 2 daily flights each from Urumqi to Korla, Altay, Shache, and Kuqa.
Internationally, the airline plans 18 international/regional routes from Xinjiang during the new season, covering 14 countries/regions across 16 destinations. Weekly international/regional flights will reach 124 round trips, a 30% increase from 2024. The Urumqi-Guangzhou-Kuala Lumpur route will increase to daily service, while routes to Moscow and Samarkand will resume. Flight frequencies to Baku, Tbilisi, Astana, Ashgabat, and Hong Kong will be gradually increased based on market demand.
With the operational launch of Urumqi International Airport's North Terminal Area, China Southern's available jet bridges have increased from 20 at Terminal 3 to 23, with annual bridge usage rate expected to rise by 5%. The airline has deployed 20 self-service check-in kiosks in the region to streamline passenger services.
