People's Daily Online, Lanzhou, April 8 — On April 7, the 2025 Silk Road (Gansu) International Travel Agents Conference, themed "Gansu: The Dream Destination for Global Travelers on the Silk Road,"commenced in Lanzhou.
The event, hosted by the Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, was supported by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), the China Tourism Academy, the World Tourism Economy Research Centre, and the China Association of Travel Services. It aimed to comprehensively showcase Gansu’s high-quality cultural and tourism resources and enhance its global image, fostering greater international awareness of Gansu and strengthening its connections with the world. The conference brought together 140 international attendees, including officials from global tourism organizations, international travel agents, social media influencers, and representatives from 23 countries, alongside 150 domestic participants comprising key inbound travel agents and media representatives from across China.
Scheduled to run through April 12, the conference features a series of activities such as promotional sessions on Gansu’s cultural and tourism resources, keynote speeches, high-level dialogues, procurement negotiations, contract signings, awards ceremonies, and on-site inspections of Silk Road-themed tourism routes. A senior official from the Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism stated that the province will seize this opportunity to deepen cooperation with global travel agents in areas like tourism product development, market promotion, tourist exchange, and digital cultural tourism. The goal is to jointly create more attractive Silk Road travel itineraries and inject new momentum into the global tourism industry.
